Everton have confirmed that Yannick Bolasie has signed on loan for Sporting Lisbon for the remainder of the 2019/20 campaign.
The move comes just a day after the 30-year-old tweeted: “Rah man are out here playing with my career like LEGO” due to his transfer situation.
He will now be able to play in the Europa League, with Sporting having been drawn against PSV Eindhoven, Rosenborg and LASK Linz in the group stages.
Bolasie went on two separate loans last season, spending the first half of the campaign with Aston Villa and the second with Anderlecht.
The Democratic Republic of Congo international made 21 appearances for Villa as they got promoted to the Premier League, scoring twice and assisting five more, as per Transfermarkt, with two of those assists coming in the memorable 5-5 draw against Nottingham Forest.
He then went on to play 17 games in Belgium for Anderlecht, scoring six goals and assisting three, including a brace in a 2-2 draw with Club Brugge.
This is a brilliant move for Bolasie, as it means he will get to play in a side challenging at the top end of a good European league, while also getting Europa League football.
It is difficult to predict whether a successful loan could see him make a return to the Everton side though, as this will be his second season without any contribution being made for the Toffees.
