The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern last season were particularly unhappy about a lot of things but none more so than a number of shambolic defensive moments they brought on themselves.
The signing of Michael Keane was set to be one of the best singings of the window as the ex-Burnley man was hunted by a number of top Premier League teams. For some reason though, Keane has really failed to live up to the expectation placed on him at Goodison Park, meaning that Everton may decide to look for a new centre-back this summer. Although the Englishman may have been bad in a few games, that doesn’t compare to the awful displays Ashley Williams and Phil Jagielka produced. In this case, our punters think the Toffees should go all out to try and secure the signature of Kevin Vogt who plays for Hoffenheim, who is valued at £7.2 million on Transfermarkt.
Vogt is the German’s side captain and would prove a hard man to persuade to England, although his form suggests he is a man worth going all out for. Having made 40 appearances all season long, Vogt helped his team by getting 9 clean-sheets, commanding his team from his position at centre-back.
Even more of a reason to sign him is that Vogt also can play as a defensive midfielder and is comfortable as playing in either spot for his team. Kevin Vogt is blessed with great leadership techniques that Everton could most certainly prosper from as their defensive displays this season has suggested they need to revamp their actions at the back, with Kevin Vogt potentially providing the ideal solution.
