The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that their team can forget and move on from this torrid season they have been enduring, in order to again properly challenge for European qualification.
Arguably, some Evertonians might be relieved that their team are no longer in the Europa League, after all the struggles and chaos it brought this season. Scenes were awful on and off the pitch and so next season will be less chaotic without the huge amounts of additional games the Toffees would have to play.
Sam Allardyce has realised that Everton’s defence was the biggest source of their problems, conceding a lot of goals earlier on in the season. Now that Big Sam has calmed this problem, this summer Everton will need to continue making improvements to the defence and our punters believe that Brighton’s Lewis Dunk, who is valued at £6.3 million by Transfer Markt, would provide that much needed extra stability.
The 26-year-old has played in all 34 of Brighton’s Premier League games thus far and the captain has been a big helping hand in keeping 8 clean sheets within the league season, a strong amount for a recently promoted side.
With Everton’s defenders such as Ashley Williams and Michael Keane desperately struggling for form, Lewis Dunk could arrive at Goodison Park with much enthusiasm having performed very well for Brighton this campaign.
The Englishman is a tough defender and the more old-fashioned type to clear the ball away, as well as not being scared to go into a crunching tackle.
Dunk is exactly the player Everton need right now and the 26-year-old would also improve greatly with the better quality of players surrounding him.
