The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are extremely excited about the future with a number of young stars hovering around the first team at the moment. The likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Tom Davies, Mason Holgate, Jonjoe Kenny and Ademola Lookman are all getting chances with the senior squad and there are many more waiting in the wings for an opportunity.
One such player is Kieran Dowell. The youngster is a central midfielder who likes to get on the ball and attack. He is currently out on loan at Nottingham Forest but his performances have been so good this season that Everton should consider bringing him back early.
Dowell could make an immediate difference to the squad. The 20-year-old has the ability to create chances and get on the score sheet himself. Despite his young age, he has already netted nine goals for Nottingham Forest this season and added a further four assists.
He is standing out as one of the star performers at Nottingham Forest and he impressed recently in the FA Cup win against Arsenal. This shows that he can compete against Premier League opposition and Everton should consider integrating him into the first team squad straight away.
The England under-21 international may not be a regular starter at Goodison Park but he is certainly good enough to make their bench and Sam Allardyce could call upon Dowell if he needs a goal. This type of attacking talent from midfield is rare to come by and Everton need to weigh up whether to reap the immediate rewards of Dowell’s skill.
With Sam Allardyce’s side looking somewhat one-paced this season, Dowell would certainly ramp them up a gear.
