Everton are yet to make a signing in the summer transfer window with just three weeks until deadline day.

The window slams shut on August 9, just two days before the start of the new Premier League campaign. Everton are yet to make a signing since Marco Silva replaced Sam Allardyce as manager. It will be a hectic three weeks if the Blues are to strengthen their squad significantly.

Signing a new centre-back will be top of Silva’s wish list given Everton’s defensive woes last season. Ashley Williams’ poor performances made him an unpopular figure on Merseyside and Phil Jagielka is nearing retirement. Michael Keane desperately needs a new defensive partner.

The answer to Everton’s problems could be Chelsea veteran – Gary Cahill. Valued at £13.5m by Transfermarkt, the England international could be set to follow Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois through the exit door at Stamford Bridge. According to reports, he will consider his future at the club if new boss Maurizio Sarri lands Daniele Rugani from Juventus. Cahill would be an excellent signing for Everton.

The 32-year-old remains a fantastic defender with bags of Premier League and European experience that will help the Blues massively next year. Cahill is a natural leader and would add some much-needed stability to the back line. His arrival would also help the Everton youngsters, such as Mason Holgate, transition to the first-team.

If he is available, Everton would be foolish to look elsewhere this summer.
