Everton fans here in The Transfer Tavern were delighted to pick up their first league win of the season on Saturday, and are hoping the victory over Bournemouth is the catalyst which sparks a run of form for Ronald Koeman’s side.
The Toffees came from behind in the second half to beat the Cherries by two goals to one, thanks to an unlikely double by Oumar Niasse.
However the men from Goodison Park rode their luck at times, and there were grumbles within The Tavern that all is not well, with further faces needing to be added to give the club a further edge in attack.
Fans’ desperate pleas may have been answered by their Dutch boss, with The Mirror reporting that a January move for Benfica striker Raul Jimenez is being lined up.
The 26-year-old Mexican international has 12 goals for the Portuguese giants since making the switch from Atletico Madrid in 2015, and Koeman has identified the player as the man to add new life to Everton ahead of the second half of the season.
Prolific in his homeland before moving to Europe, Jimenez is a seasoned international, forging an excellent partnership with West Ham striker Javier Hernandez for the national side.
Toffees scouts will keep an eye on Jimenez in the coming months to gauge whether he has what it takes to compete in the Premier League, before deciding on a January offer.
Toffees fans, would you like to see the Mexican make the switch to Goodison in January? Have your say below…
