When you think about some of the massive signings of the summer, your Paul Pogba’s and Ilkay Gundogan’s, it’s easy to forget that a lot of smart business was actually done elsewhere.
The Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern won’t let you forget it, though, as their club signed some top Premier League stars.
New manager Ronald Koeman was quick to identify his targets and bought the likes of Ashley Williams, Yannick Bolasie and Idrissa Gueye with all three impressing so far this season but none more so, than the latter.
The midfielder Gueye had a few doubts over him after he signed from Aston Villa because the natural thought process was ‘can he be that good when Villa were so bad?’
Well, the answer is a resounding yes.
The Senegalese international has instantly become a key part of Everton’s playing style with his tackling and ability to drive forward, and as this stat from @FootballSenegal on Twitter suggests, he’s been one of the stars in Europe this year.
