Juventus and Italy legend Alessandro Del Piero has issued a ‘come and get me’ plea to the Premiership before he retires from his footballing career.
The striker and free-kick specialist will not be offered a new contract by the Turin giants when his current deal expires at the end of June next year bringing an end to what will be a 19-year stint at the club. Del Piero is the all-time leading scorer and appearance maker for the ‘Old Lady’ and also helped Italy to their 4th World Cup success in 2006.
Although the Italian is at the ripe old age of 37, he still feels he has something to offer. “My future after June 30, 2012 is that of a football player. I will continue playing,” he told France Football.
“I might be 37 years-old but I don’t have a time limit,” he said, before making his revelation. “I have to confess a secret. I love the Premier League. What a great league.
“Of course I would like to play there before retiring from football.”
Reports suggest that Tottenham, Everton and Blackburn Rovers are all interested in signing the legend according to Talksport.
