Everton have moved to address rumours that Romelu Lukaku will leave the club in the near future as reported by talkSPORT, with our resident Toffees fans here in the Transfer Tavern hoping that that puts an end to all the speculation.
Indeed, they are particularly confident the Belgian striker will not be leaving given that it was their new co-owner, Farhad Moshiri, making the statement.
Moshiri was referring in particular to comments made earlier in the week by Ronald Koeman that Lukaku would benefit from a move to fulfill his potential away from Goodison Park and said that the Dutchman’s words had been taken out of context.
The co-owner said: “It has been taken out of context. Ronald Koeman said he believes Romelu will develop into one of the best strikers in the world in the next two to three years and wouldn’t be out of place at his old club, Barcelona. It is just player-coach talk.”
Lukaku has been in good form this season for the Toffees and is third on the Premier League top scorer’s list behind Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa with seven goals to his name this season.
In the past, the likes of PSG have been linked with a move for the clinical forward.
Those goals have helped see the Blues sit in seventh in the league at the moment but he could not help the club last weekend as they lost 5-0 to Chelsea.
