For the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern, this weekend proved to be a relatively drab affair as the Toffees in the bar watched their beloved blues slug out a pretty dull goalless draw away at Middlesbrough.
Though parts of this season have been full of excitement for the Merseyside outfit, things have somewhat stalled of late, so reports from the Daily Star have caused concern amongst our punters. They’ve revealed Goodison Park hero Ross Barkley is stalling on a new deal with his boyhood charges after a mixed campaign under Ronald Koeman.
The Times also recently claimed Barkley had confronted the former Southampton boss over his critique of his form throughout the campaign.
Dropped earlier in the campaign after being hauled off at half-time, the Dutchman does not appear to have the best relationship with the 23-year-old and he is thought to be delaying making a decision over this future right away. With only 18 months left on his current contract, the England international could reportedly attract big interest.
Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham are all mentioned within the report as potentially interested parties in Barkley, who undoubtedly has an exceptional talent. The punters from all around the Premier League in the bar believe him to be a good season away from breaking into the European elite, though time is running out for him.
Where would Barkley fit in best? Let us know below…
