Koeman handed another transfer blow for Everton

According to The Mirror, Everton have seen a £7 million bid for Charlton’s Ademola Lookman rejected as the race for the young winger hots up.

We have a smattering of Charlton fans here in the Transfer Tavern who are feeling pretty resigned to the fact that their latest young star is going to leave in the near future and it certainly looks like a matter of when not if.

It could just happen to be in January that the attack minded player moves on and appears that Everton have made the first move, albeit one that has been rejected.

The Toffees have a new found sense of financial muscle with their new co-owner Farhad Moshiri coming in during the summer and new manager Ronald Koeman has been quick to make use of those resources available to him.

The Blues signed the likes of Yannick Bolasie and Idrissa Gueye in the summer and now look set to be active once more in January.

They’ll have to fork out more for Lookman, though, and they could find themselves having company as they look for his signature with Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool all also reportedly keen.

He could be just the latest in a long line of lower league stars who’ve made it all the way to the Premier League, the most famous of which being Dele Alli, who left MK Dons for Spurs.
