Everton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are biting their nails over the prospect of a Romelu Lukaku exit, as reports confirm that Antonio Conte may be interested in bringing the Belgian back to Stamford Bridge for the forthcoming season.
But The Daily Mail reports today that Ronald Koeman is eyeing a £16m move for Porto striker, Vincent Aboubakar, in an attempt to bring in a striker not to replace Lukaku – but to line up ALONGSIDE him as a forward partner.
Representatives of the 24-year-old are thought to have been in talks with the Toffees’ hierarchy and it seems that he would welcome a move to Goodison Park, in the meantime snubbing off interest from the likes of Juventus and Leicester City, amongst others.
The Cameroon international scored 17 goals in 42 appearances for Porto last season. A quick and powerful front man, Aboubakar has also scored 13 goals in 45 appearances for his home country and is their main man to lead the line.
Does Koeman have any hope at all of keeping Lukaku?
