For all you Toffees drinking at the Transfer Tavern tonight, you may want to stay for another drink or two as Everton are preparing a £14 million bid for Sunderland’s defender Lamine Kone to replace John Stones, according to reports from The Sun.
The 27-year old gigantic centre back helped the Black Cats stay in the Premier League after ex-boss Sam Allardyce signed him from Lorient in the January transfer window.
Kone found consistent first team football at Lorient, coming in to replace the Arsenal bound Laurent Koscielny and over 6 seasons with the Ligue 1 club, made over 130 appearances and scored 7 goals.
Having represented France at every youth level, he chose to represent his parent’s national side, the Ivory Coast and emerged as a formidable top flight football.
Potentially only costing the club £14m, there could be a lot of money left in the bank after this potential transfer for Koeman to distribute amongst other areas of the team.
What do you think Everton fans? Is Kone a fitting replacement for Stones? Let us know down below…
