After such a miserable campaign last term, the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have been delighted watching their side under Ronald Koeman’s stewardship.
The Toffees propping up the bar were a bit all over the place during the summer transfer window, though their new Dutch coach has proved a welcome tonic to the Roberto Martinez induced woe.
There’s further reason to celebrate at Goodison Park, following reports from the Daily Mail.
They claim the club are ready to tie Ross Barkley down to a new long-term deal on Merseyside, having just two years to run on his current contract.
Despite being left out of Sam Allardyce’s England squad, the 22-year-old has been in good form under Koeman in what promises to be a big season for the playmaker.
Everton are understood to want to reward him for his progress and want to make him one of the pillars upon which they build their future project.
With Koeman now at the helm, the club have been backed with huge investment by Farhad Moshiri in recent months.
Barkley progressed through the club’s academy and has made well over 100 appearances for his boyhood charges.
How good can Barkley get? Let us know below…
