Koeman targets familiar face for Everton revolution (not Schneiderlin)

Everton fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate to see Ronald Koeman’s plans as they prepare for a new era at Goodison Park.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Toffees want Maarten Stekelenburg from Fulham as their new boss looks to reunite with the goalkeeper.

The 33-year-old spent last season on loan at St Mary’s, as he was brought in as cover for Fraser Forster, who was injured for the first half of the season.

Still, he reportedly impressed the Dutch tactician during his limited time on the South Coast, to now be wanted at Goodison Park.

It is believed the Merseyside outfit, flush with cash these days, could reach an agreement with the Championship side for a fee below £1m.

However, the departure of stoic servant Tim Howard at the tail end of the season just gone means the former Southampton coach will be targeting more ‘stoppers than the World Cup finalists.

Ambitious moves for England internationals such as the aforementioned Forster, as well as Joe Hart, have been mooted.
