Amidst rumours Thibaut Courtois could well be on his way to the Bernabeu, World Cup star stopper Jordan Pickford has emerged as the number one target for Chelsea to replace their Belgian stopper with.

Chelsea have made Pickford their number one target if Courtois does exit Stamford Bridge, according to Sky Sports.

Jordan Pickford had a superb World Cup for England, breaking the spell England had suffered for decades and helping the Three Lions win a penalty shoot-out against Colombia. Pickford well and truly established himself as England's number one, aged just 24.

His shot-stopping, command of the area and distribution propelled him to the position of England's number one. Everton splashed out £25m for the Sunderland-born player's talents before the start of last season, and he was one of the few players who didn't flop at Goodison Park. Modern-day keepers are expected to be comfortable on the ball, and Pickford certainly fits the bill. He is always cool, calm and collected at the back, and his distribution is amongst the best of any stopper in the Premier League.

If Pickford does leave for pastures new, Marco Silva must use the money to re-invest in a top-quality stopper. Liverpool splashing out a world record fee for a goalkeeper this summer, in Brazilian Allison, shows just how valuable goalkeepers are becoming to the modern game.

With that in mind, here are two keepers Silva should consider if Pickford leaves Goodison Park...

From England's number one to England's number two, Jack Butland could be seen as something of a step down for Everton. However, it must be remembered it was a close call right until the very last moment on who would be the first choice between the sticks for the Three Lions.

Jack Butland is valued at £22m by Transfermarkt. His qualities are too good for second tier football, and he would be a very solid replacement for his compatriot.

He is another player with excellent shot-stopping qualities and command of his area. It is perhaps only his distribution which means he is slightly behind Jordan Pickford in England's pecking order.

Arsenal keeper Petr Cech is a possible replacement for the Toffees if Pickford does leave.

The 36-year-old has vast experience, and was at one point one of the best keepers in the world. With Arsenal signing Bernd Leno, this might open the door for Everton to bring Cech to the club. The Czech stopper has proven himself time and time again an adept keeper, and he would be a big name between the sticks for the Toffees.

At his age, he probably has another two seasons at the top of his game in the Premier League. He is a quality, and likely reasonably priced, option for Everton upon Pickford's departure.
