The Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern were in a good mood yesterday following the sacking of Ronald Koeman. 

While the season started with oh so much optimism after a big summer spend, the Dutchman looked to have lost the dressing room as his side slip into the relegation zone after a dismal start to the campaign. Now, the search turns to finding a new boss at Goodison Park.

Though many links are always likely, reports from BBC Sport truly have shocked our punters. They claim former Everton skipper Phil Neville is keen on the job, having not been in a coaching role since leaving Valencia with brother, Gary.

Often seen on Match of the Day, Neville made 242 appearances for the Toffees between 2005 and 2013 and has also operated as a first-team coach for former club Manchester United, though may not prove an overly popular choice.
