Man United set out demands for midfielder amid Premier League interest

Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are discussing one particular transfer story with their Everton counterparts, after the latest development in what could turn out to be one of the sagas of the mid-season window.

The Daily Mail state Manchester United have slapped a £20m price-tag on the head of Morgan Schneiderlin, who is surplus to requirements in the eyes of Jose Mourinho and has attracted the interest of Everton.

Toffees boss Ronald Koeman is keen to push through a deal for the French midfielder, who is keen on moving to Goodison Park, but United have named their price and are keen to recoup the majority of the £24m fee they paid Southampton for his services.

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is ready to back Koeman in the transfer market, with Memphis Depay and Virgil Van Dijk their other January targets, but the Toffees face a stern test to secure the services of their mid-season targets.

Whilst the fans in the bar believe Depay and Van Dijk are unlikely to be secured, they feel a deal for Schneiderlin is a completable one and are urging the club to push through a deal as quickly as possible.

Sitting seventh in the Premier League table, Everton are around the sort of position where they expect to be but their FA Cup third round exit at the hands of Leicester City has left the Merseyside outfit with little to play for in the second-half of the campaign.

The landlord here in the Transfer Tavern reckons that Everton seriously need to secure a deal for Schneiderlin, and thinks he’s a long-term solution in the middle of the park for the Merseyside outfit.
