Pints are being put down and attention is diverted away from the screens here at the Football Transfer Tavern after news reaches our ears that The Sun claim Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott could be set to leave the club.
The defender has found himself increasingly on the edges at the club this season and has seen his first team place taken by Serbian summer arrival Matija Nastasic. It was unclear what exactly the future held for the player who cost City £24 million just two years ago, with the player wanting to stay and fight for a place. However Roberto Mancini does not see a future for the England International and the club are ready to dispose of the former Everton and Wolves man.
Lescott is on the radar of several Premier League clubs, and with the £8 million figure City have placed on his head that is no surprise. Both former club Everton and relegation threatened QPR have shown serious interest in the player who has also attracted glances from abroad as well.
Lescott would prefer to remain in the Premier League, and whilst it may not be with champions City, one thing is clear. The 30-year-old is not short of offers.
