Everton supporters in the Transfer Tavern are very much looking forward to the new era at their club following the news that Marco Silva has been appointed as the Toffees’ new manager.
The former Hull City and Watford boss had been out of work since losing his job at the latter back in January, with the Hornets laying the blame firmly at the feet of Everton for their approaches for the 40-year-old following the departure of their boss Ronald Koeman a few months earlier. Yet the Merseysiders have now got their man after relieving Sam Allardyce of his duties last month, despite leading the club to an eighth place finish in the Premier League.
As such, there are many optimistic and expectant Evertonians in the Tavern at present, several of whom are wondering whether the Portuguese boss might raid his former employers for signings this summer.
And one man many of our resident Toffees fans are hoping the 40-year-old will reunite with at Goodison Park is £22.5 million-rated Watford ace Richarlison (as per Transfermarkt).
Ultimately, the 21-year-old enjoyed a pretty solid first season in English football this term following his arrival at Vicarage Road last summer, with the Brazilian star scoring five goals and laying on five assists for the Hornets in 38 Premier League appearances.
Significantly though, all ten of those contributions came under Silva’s stewardship in the first half of the campaign, with Richarlison somewhat failing to produce his best and carry the same sort of threat once the 40-year-old was sacked back in January.
As such, it’s pretty evident that Silva knows exactly how to get the best out of the talented 21-year-old, which can only be good news for Everton fans, many of whom are hoping their side improve their attacking ranks this summer.
While Theo Walcott made a decent start to life at the club following his January move from Arsenal, things did somewhat tail off as the season drew to a close, while Yannick Bolasie has looked a shadow of the player he was prior to injury since his return back in December.
And with Kevin Mirallas seemingly without a future at Goodison Park, and the likes of Nikola Vlasic and Ademola Lookman also facing an uncertain few weeks, Silva may look at his wide options and feel that improvements are necessary to take the club to the next level.
And having got the very best out of the hugely talented Richarlison at Watford, Silva simply must seek a reunion with the 21-year-old now he has taken over at Everton.
