Everton have made a strong start to life under Marco Silva, giving fans the best of optimism that this season will be a successful one.
The Toffees remain unbeaten after four Premier League games, something that only four other teams are. Marco Silva has installed a plan and the players are starting to quickly become accustomed to his tactics and that leaves Everton with a good chance of eclipsing their 8th place finish from last season, despite many deeming that as a poor campaign due to how they played and set-up in games under Sam Allardyce.
Everton spent a good amount of money over the summer to recruit the players Silva desired but their start to the season highlighted the need for another attacking midfielder that can link midfield to attack as well as score goals himself.
A prime candidate for Everton would be German midfielder and Borussia Dortmund star Mario Gotze.
Gotze, (who is valued at £16.2 million on Transfermarkt) has unfortunately been on a rollercoaster journey since scoring the winning goal for Germany in the World Cup final back in 2014.
Borussia Dortmund have tried their best to allow Gotze to flourish again but with a move to England and Everton, the 26-year-old could really start a new chapter and look ahead rather than backwards.
After making 32 appearances last season, Gotze bagged two goals and seven assists. Everton thought they resolved their attacking midfield crisis when buying Rooney and Sigurdsson but now Rooney has already departed the club and the Icelandic star hasn’t quite lived up to expectation, Gotze is a more than necessary signing for Everton.
Do you agree that Gotze would be a good fit for Everton… Let us know!
