Everton were unable to overcome Bournemouth at Goodison Park on Saturday.

Philip Biling struck first to give the Terriers the lead, but Everton hit back just minutes later with Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring his first goal of the season. The Toffees continued to press for a winner but were unsuccessful in their efforts. Huddersfield defended well and left Merseyside with a well-deserved point.

The match marked the fifth game in a row that forward Cenk Tosun failed to find the back of the net. The Turkish forward made a great start to life in England after joining from Besiktas back in January. Despite not scoring, Tosun has played a huge role in Richarlison’s excellent start to his debut season with the Blues. However, if Everton are to challenge for Europe this season, they need a regular goal scorer.

One man they should target is Celta Vigo forward – Maximiliano Gomez. Valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt, the Uruguay international has emerged as one of the top forwards in La Liga after joining the club from Defensor Sporting last summer. Gomez enjoyed a sensational debut season in Spain, hitting 17 goals and registering four assists. His excellent form continued into the new campaign, with Gomez scoring two and assisting two in just three appearances so far.

Still only 22-years-old, the striker is still improving and would be an excellent addition to Marco Silva’s squad. Gomez is a deadly finisher, and his bulky frame means he should have no issues adapting to life in the Premier League. His arrival would give Tosun the perfect partner in the Everton attack.

The Blues must make their move quickly before Gomez is snapped up by one of their Premier League rivals.
