Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are eagerly awaiting their first signing of the summer transfer window and our punters are starting to get worried.

Our regulars finally got some good news following a dismal season after it was announced that Marco Silva would be replacing the unpopular Sam Allardyce in the dugout. Director of football, Steve Walsh, was also dismissed after a poor transfer window. He was placed by Marcel Brands formerly of PSV Eindhoven

The Toffees have until August 9 to finalise their new signings after clubs voted to close the window before the Premier League season kicks off. Ramiro Funes Mori and Wayne Rooney have both left the club, but more departures are needed before Everton can begin to spend. Adding goals to the side will be a priority for Silva when he has funds at his disposal.

Silva would be wise to look to Stamford Bridge and attempt to lure Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea. Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, the Belgian slipped down the pecking order under Antonio Conte and was loaned to Borussia Dortmund for the remainder of the season in January. The 24-year-old was excellent during his spell in Germany, scoring nine goals in just 14 appearances.

His quality is evident but has not been given a chance to showcase his abilities in the Premier League. The Blues have paid the price in the past for allowing potential stars to leave, look at Mohamed Salah and Kevin de Bruyne. Batshuayi would be eager to prove them wrong and would be perfect at Goodison Park.

An ideal partner for Cenk Tosun, signing the Belgian international would be one of their best moves in years.

Everton fans, thoughts?
