It’s been a summer to remember thus far for the Everton fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern, who’ve been delighted to watch Ronald Koeman splash the cash and build a truly exciting new side.
Indeed, the arrivals of the likes of Sandro Ramirez, Michael Keane, Jordan Pickford and Davy Klaassen have been celebrated both often and loudly amongst the punters propping up our bar. As if that wasn’t enough, the notion of seeing one of the most decorated players in English football come back to Goodison Park certainly has the Toffees in the Tavern talking.
According to BBC Sport, the club have stepped up their interest in Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney. Seemingly out of the picture at Old Trafford, the 31-year-old has been strongly linked with a return to his boyhood charges.
Their report claims chairman Bill Kenwright has met face-to-face with Rooney’s agent, Paul Stretford, in London. While no deal has reportedly been agreed, England’s record goal scorer has always said the only club in the Premier League he’d play for outside of the Red Devils is Everton.
Though Wazza may have dipped in recent seasons, the idea of seeing him return to the club has our Everton fans excited to say the very least.
