Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern have been left delighted with the business done by their side so far, although they’re baffled by the latest reports.
Ronald Koeman has spent heavily this summer to significantly bolster his side with the additions of Wayne Rooney, Sandro Ramirez, Michael Keane, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Davy Klaasen, Jordan Pickford, Cuco Martina and Henry Onyekuru, raising optimism at Goodison Park in the process.
The Toffees have started this season superbly by winning their first four matches of the campaign across all competitions and will now be looking to kick-on in the coming months. However, it seems their Dutch boss is not finished in the transfer market.
Bizarrely, reports have suggested in recent days that Everton are still looking to improve their quota of strikers on Merseyside and the Toffees have been linked with a loan deal for Chelsea outcast Diego Costa- a signing nobody in the bar believes would be a good move and it’s easy to see why.
The loss of Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United has hit Everton hard but Sandro and Rooney are capable enough replacements, so there’s certainly no need to sign Costa- especially with the issues and baggage his services come with.
Our landlord is equally baffled by the reports and is hoping that the rumours are merely transfer speculation, as he doesn’t see how Koeman would fit Costa into his plans for the forthcoming campaign.
