Everton striker Aiyegbeni Yakubu is known for munching his way through various meals, when he’s on the treatment table, but it looks as if the 28 year old Nigerian could be about to swap Toffees for Walker’s.
Yakubu has apparently announced his desire to join Leicester City if they achieve promotion to the Premiership. The striker has been on loan at the Foxes since Janaury and has scored 4 goals in 8 appearances. His goals have shot Leicester up the table, and manager Sven Goran Eriksson has claimed ‘I’m quite sure if we go up that Yakubu will stay. He wants to.’
Whilst the loss of Yakubu would not be an earth-shattering loss to David Moyes’ team, Evertonians will no doubt be concerned that his departure would lessen the Toffee attacking line-up.
So far, they have only Louis Saha and Jermaine Beckford fit for action. This week, Saha was involved in a car crash which nearly cost him his life. In the Everton programme for Tuesday’s game against Reading, Saha was featured in the regular ‘Who I’d Have Over For Dinner’ segment. Unsurprisingly, the striker chose God. If he’d have been going a bit faster, he might have got his wish!
The Yakubu move rests on whether Leicester can achieve promotion, and fans of the Foxes will be hoping that the Super-Eagle continues his rich vein of form.
