New era dawns at Everton with club set to wrap up £5m deal for Barcelona legend


The Everton fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern are celebrating the news that the club have a successor to Roberto Martinez.

According to BBC Sport, the Toffees have agreed a deal to take Ronald Koeman to Goodison Park, which is set to be announced by the club.

Talks have been ongoing between the club and Southampton, and the two clubs have reportedly finally agreed a compensation package that suits both clubs.

It is believed to have cost Everton around £5m in compensation to land the Dutchman, who leaves after two years in charge at St Mary’s.

He has done a stellar job with Saints amid difficult seasons of selling prized assets, leading them into the Europa League and a lofty 6th placed finish.

Also making the move to Merseyside with the former Valencia coach with be his brother Edwin Koeman, a trusted associate, and Jan Kluitenberg, another member of his coaching staff on the South Coast.
