With the transition at Everton under new boss Marco Silva currently underway players will be expected to go above and beyond to earn their place in the squad.
It’s remarkable looking at the quality on show in this Everton side compared to the drivel people had to endure under Ronald Koeman and Sam Allardyce. The football feels fluid, the footballers look inspired, the fans appear rejuvenated and hopeful, and the results keep on coming. Everything seems set for Everton to have a breakout 2019.
The bar has been raised for players to up their game in order to maintain the club’s momentum going forward. And unfortunately for some, this may come at great cost.
Here is one player that desperately needs to play out of his skin otherwise he’ll risk being axed…
Tosun has never really hit the ground running following his arrival in January this year.
Indeed, moving from Super Lig to the Premier League was always going to be a difficult jump in class, however fans would be forgiven for expecting a little more from the player considering he managed a very respectable four goals in six Champions League games for Besiktas in the season he arrived.
Now, in his first full season in England, Tosun looks sluggish and wasteful in front of goal. He’s only managed a meagre two goals in ten games, and offers very little else to the team.
Tosun has already seen his time in the starting lineup limited due to bad performances, and with Richarlison stepping up and playing excellently in the forward position (most recently scoring two against Brighton) he risks losing his spot altogether.
