Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern are very happy with the way things have gone this season and there is now surely going to be a busy summer window ahead.
The men from Goodison Park have been going well for sure, then, and are in Europe next season which obviously suggests they need to bring in more players to add to their squad.
Certainly, then, left back could do with an extra signing with Leighton Baines starting to enter the latter couple of years at the club with him certainly not the player he once was.
He’s still class, of course, but he’s not at the level he was at when he was in the England set-up naturally, of course.
What the club needs to do, then, is sign a new left-back ready to take the baton from Baines and it could just be a good idea that they go after Aston Villa’s Jordan Amavi.
There’s a wide acceptance that the young Villa man is better than the Championship and with him still in his early 20’s he has the potential and time to really become a star.
Indeed, he’d certainly fit the hungry, young culture that Ronald Koeman has instilled at the Toffees whilst he also displays the tactical flexibility that is in vogue at the moment.
Certainly, he can go as a left-back or a left-wing-back rather easily and with Koeman toying with a three-at-the-back system, Amavi could be the next inspired signing on behalf of the Dutch maestro.
