Everton would like to believe that their sufficient squad will enable them to get back into contention for Europe this season.
Having performed brilliantly at times, the Toffees would like to think that their summer improvements have meant that they will be able to finish higher up in the Premier League this season.
Unfortunately, if rumours are to be believed, Everton could face a huge problem. The Daily Star are reporting that Spanish giants Barcelona are planning to sign Richarlison, the hitman who has scored seven goals in 13 Premier League games for Everton this season.
With the Brazilian forward proving to be a big reason behind Everton’s success this season, they cannot afford to lose him but could well do if a big club like Barcelona come calling.
What could the potential consequences be for Everton if they do sell Richarlison…
Biggest goal-threat gone
Not many would have predicted how well Richarlison would do in an Everton shirt but under Marco Silva, a manager he has thrived under twice, he has become integral in their push for Europe.
With seven goals already in the Premier League, it’s easy to see why teams are interested in his signature but for Everton, they would lose their prize asset and simply cannot afford to let that happen.
European dreams come crashing down
Everton would find searching for a top replacement very hard and no one may compare to the ability Richarlison has.
Although not even half the season has been played yet, he has made an instant impact at Goodison Park and the fans love him. It would be incredibly hard for them to see him go and their European dreams would take a huge hit without their biggest goal-threat.
