The Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are locked in debate over the future of Ross Barkley.
With the England international having snubbed a move to Chelsea last week, the Toffees in the Tavern are unsure whether or not they want him to stay at Goodison Park going forward.
Ronald Koeman seemed pretty adamant about the fact the 23-year-old would be sold after rejecting a new deal at his boyhood charges and he is out of contract in January, so his future really is up in the air.
Well, according to the Liverpool Echo, Everton could be in a rather difficult position over their midfielder. While they are previously reported to have wanted £50m for their academy graduate, the Toffees are believed to be likely to demand between £15-20m in January.
Currently out injured, Barkley has also been strongly linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur and would represent quite a coup at that money, despite his recent problems.
As you can imagine, the idea of seeing him depart for that figure has annoyed our resident Evertonians.
Losing Barkley for that sort of fee would be a nightmare for Everton. It’s not like they need the money, though a player of such talent leaving for a snip in today’s market is a huge missed opportunity on Merseyside.
Will be gutting to see him go at that price.
