Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern are pretty happy with how things have gone this season though they are getting a little worried with what’s going on with Ross Barkley.
The Toffees have been flying this season under Ronald Koeman and since the turn of the year have really looked like a side capable of challenging for the top four.
That might be a little too much to ask, now, but there can be no doubt that they’ll be looking to at least oust Arsenal in the league and then kick-on next season.
The aforementioned Barkley, though, may not be a part of any progress into 2017/18, though, with him being told – as per The Telegraph – to either sign a £100,000-a-week deal, or leave the club in the summer.
The midfielder is a superb talent, of course, and would surely be welcomed if he did stay at the club but The Toffees appear to be wanting to make some money out of him if he doesn’t want to sign, rather than letting him go for free next year.
He has just over a year left on his contract, then, and so it’s coming to the crunch for him and the club.
