Record breaking transfer swoop would help Everton improve wonderkid for years to come

The resident Toffees in the Transfer Tavern are looking forward to a new era under their new manager Sam Allardyce.

Everton have enjoyed a much-improved set of results in recent weeks now that their managerial situation has been clarified. The Toffees have overcome a period of uncertainty that arrived in the wake of Ronald Koeman’s dismissal. Now that Sam Allardyce has been appointed as the new manager after weeks of speculation surrounding Koeman’s successor, the Everton supporters will be expecting an upturn in the club’s form.

With the January transfer window less than a month away from re-opening, Allardyce will be working in conjunction with Bill Kenwright and the club’s hierarchy to establish potential transfer targets this winter.

And according to The Mirror, Everton are already plotting a sensational club-record £60 million move for Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Although at first glance the move appears to be outrageously ambitious, it must be considered that Everton are yet to replace their former talisman Romelu Lukaku.

Since Lukaku departed for Manchester United in the summer, Everton have largely relied on 20-year-old Dominic Calvert-Lewin to lead the line for The Toffees.

However, despite Calvert-Lewin’s potential, it is too early in his career for Everton to be entrusting him as the club’s first-choice striker.

The signing of Aubameyang could be exactly what Calvert-Lewin needs at this stage in his development.

By playing alongside the Bundesliga’s second top-goalscorer, Calvert Lewin would have a fantastic opportunity to learn directly from one of Europe’s top strikers.

It would also be a fantastic boost for Everton’s youngster as the transfer would undoubtedly ease the burden currently on his shoulders to regularly find the back of the net.

Even if Allardyce is unsuccessful in his pursuit of Aubameyang, he should be looking to sign a proven goalscorer of the highest quality in January to catalyse the development of Calvert-Lewin.
