Though many of the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are citing Wayne Rooney as their biggest signing of the summer, there could be an entirely new striker to celebrate on Merseyside.
Indeed, fellow summer signing Sandro Ramirez notched his first goal at Goodison Park against Sevilla over the course of the weekend, much to the delight of the Toffees in the Tavern. The former Malaga man and Barcelona youth product will be expected to pick up the goalscoring burden now Romelu Lukaku has departed, so it’s nice for them to see him notch so early into his career.
As if the Spaniard didn’t need any more revving up as he looks to impress fans on these shores, reports from Marca have suggested he really does have it all to play for.
Ahead of the World Cup next summer, La Roja national manager Julen Lopetegui reportedly has concerns over his strikeforce. Diego Costa is currently in limbo as his time at Chelsea looks to be over, while his replacement – Alvaro Morata – has barely got off to the best start.
With that in mind, Sandro could apparently be in with a shout to make the squad this summer, if he performs for his new charges, much to the delight our resident Evertonians.
If Sandro is on the periphery of a team as good as Spain at his age, Everton could have landed themselves a real coup for relatively cheap.
With Wayne Rooney and potentially Gylfi Sigurdsson feeding him, the 22-year-old could be in for a big season.
