Report: Silva and Brands set to oversee huge summer overhaul at Everton

Everton are looking to bring in a number of players this summer to help improve the squad following an abysmal season, yet the fans in the Transfer Tavern could be preparing to watch a number of them leave first.

The Toffees have recently appointed Marco Silva and Marcel Brands as manager and Director of Football recently, and the pair are keen to waste as little time as possible and make their mark on the side straight away.

It appears that the club will need to see a number of players leave this summer, with Brands looking to reduce the club to between 25 and 30 players given there are 38 on the books already, with The Daily Mirror reporting that 12 of those could be offloaded this summer.

The media outlet report that a number of the club’s first team could face the axe from the new management team, with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Davy Klaassen, Morgan Schneiderlin, Ashley Williams, Ramiro Funes Mori and Oumar Niasse all to be shown the door at Goodison Park.

As such, there is likely to be a huge overhaul at the Merseyside outfit this summer as messrs Silva and Brands seek to make changes that will take the club forward next term.

Landlord’s Verdict: The changes are necessary at Everton, as they do have a rather large squad and will be keen to offload a number of the players from their wage bill, despite not having any real financial concerns.

Rooney should be an easy departure, with a move linking him to the MLS with DC United, whilst there is interest in the likes of Klaassen, Sandro Ramirez and Yannick Bolaise.

The club are also looking to offload a number of talented youth players – however, temporary switches might be easier for the Toffees to focus on right now, with the hope that they can sell them on in due course.
