Ronald Koeman offers key Everton update before Stoke clash

Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern are seriously looking forward to the new campaign with them up against Stoke first off all this season.

The men from Goodison Park have enjoyed a pretty productive summer with the likes of Michael Keane and Jordan Pickford arriving to help the squad have a very different feel to it.

Indeed, the likes of Romelu Lukaku has gone to Manchester United but there are still some players with the squad you might feel could have gone by now – with Ross Barkley certainly falling into that bracket.

However, he is yet to go anywhere and could still stay with both him and James McCarthy back in training as per The Liverpool Echo who were at Koeman’s press conference today.

Indeed, the Dutch manager revealed both were back out on the training pitch but that neither would feature in the game against Stoke due to a lack of fitness.

Nearly time, then, for all the talking to stop and the Blues to see just how good their new team is.

Landlord’s Verdict

With the amount of new players that have arrived, the club might not miss Barkley and McCarthy as much as they could have this weekend.

For sure, Barkley especially is still one of the club’s best players despite the issues but the team should be able to cope in the opening game of the season.
