Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping to see some new faces arrive at Goodison Park soon as the start of the season draws closer.

No signings have been made by new manager Marco Silva and new director of football Marcel Brands as they look to revamp the Toffees squad. The Blues spent heavily last summer, but the majority of their signings failed to impress. Silva will be eager to avoid a similar window this time around.

The only business at Goodison Park has been outgoings with Ramiro Funes Mori leaving for Villarreal in a £8m deal. Club legend, Wayne Rooney, also ended his second spell with the club after just one year, departing for DC United in Major League Soccer. Everton must now turn their attention to strengthening the squad.

A perfect addition could be German playmaker – Max Meyer – who is available on a free transfer after leaving Schalke. Valued at £16.2m by Transfermarkt, the 22-year-old made 24 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, failing to score or register an assist for his side. His attitude, seemingly driven by his agent, has proved to be his biggest downfall.

Moving to England with Everton would give Meyer a clean slate to rediscover the form that made him one of Germany’s most promising talents. If he can get himself in order, Everton would gain a terrific player.
