Marco Silva has confirmed that Everton will look to sign a striker in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Blues have made an excellent start to life under the Portuguese and are well on their way to qualify for Europe this season. However, the Toffees lack a true number nine with Cenk Tosun failing to score consistently since joining from Besiktas. Silva has been forced to use Richarlison as the central forward, but the Brazilian looks far more comfortable on his preferred left wing.
Silva revealed in his press conference that the Blues would assess their forward options during the upcoming transfer window. The former Watford manager should have transfer funds to use in the New Year and would be wise to spend big on a new forward.
The perfect addition to the Everton squad would be Frankfurt superstar – Sebastian Haller. Valued at just £13.5m by Transfermarkt, the Frenchman racked up an impressive goalscoring record in the Eredivisie for Utrecht before signing for the Bundesliga side last summer. Haller ended his debut campaign in Germany with nine goals but his truly taken his game to the next level in the current campaign.
Haller has been in fantastic form in front of goal, finding the back of the net nine times in just 13 Bundesliga appearances so far – the forward has also managed two goals in the Europa League. Not only as Haller excelled in terms of scoring, but the 24-year-old target man also helps bring others into the game, registering 11 assists in all competitions which will be music to the ears of Everton’s wide men. A strong, physical forward – Haller has all the attributes to be a massive success in the Premier League.
The former France U21 international would give Silva the quality forward he has been crying out for and help Everton push for a European place.
