Everton will be wanting to improve on a couple of recent lacklustre performances, which has seen them slip slightly down to 7th place.

After what was an electric start to the season, Everton have started to slow down and are struggling to come through and take all three points in games.

That is down to a mixture of things but despite spending a lot of money in the summer, Everton should look towards the transfer window again if they want to push for a place in Europe.

Andre Gomes and Idrissa Gueye have conjured up a tough partnership but in order to add more competition and squad depth, they should look at bringing in Danny Drinkwater to toughen up their midfield.

Drinkwater, who is valued at £18 million on Transfermarkt, is a tough midfielder that hasn't been given a fair chance at Chelsea due to the quality they already have in that position.

The 28-year-old was integral is allowing Leicester to win the league back in 2016 and with the opportunity to play regular first-team football again this season, Drinkwater could turn out to be an inspired signing for Everton.

Danny Drinkwater can operate in a deep-lying midfield role as well as a box-to-box option. He wouldn't be guaranteed a place in the starting line-up, yet if he works hard enough, he could worm his way in past the likes of Tom Davies and Morgan Schneiderlin, who are also waiting a chance.

The Englishman is a very hard-working player that would be liked at Goodison Park, should he recapture the form he showed in the Premier League just a few seasons ago.

Should Everton sign Drinkwater as back-up... Let us know!
