Everton will be disappointed that they couldn’t quite secure all three points against Watford last time out, as Lucas Digne scored a late equaliser for the Toffees.
Marco Silva’s side still find themselves in a very promising position, despite Monday night’s slight slip-up, with their European hopes still very much alive.
However, Silva’s side face arguably their biggest test yet later on today as they’ll travel to the Etihad to face Manchester City in their next Premier League fixture. The Citizens have been one of the dominant forces in the top-flight this season, but they did lose their unbeaten streak last weekend, so they could be vulnerable.
With that in mind, Silva can rely on these TWO Everton stars to ruin Pep Guardiola’s title aspirations…
Andre Gomes has defied expectations at Goodison Park in the current campaign, having put in a world-class performance in just about every game he’s played in the Premier League.
The Portuguese midfielder has stepped up in games against the so-called big sides so far this season, so the Blues will be relying on him to make a name for himself at the Etihad.
Manchester City enjoy most of their success through the middle of midfield, which is why Gomes will play a crucial part in intercepting passes and launching Everton’s counter-attacks.
Gylfi Sigurdsson has been one of the shining lights for the Toffees so far this season, with a whopping seven goals and two assists to his name, including a number of wonder strikes.
So, with a trip to face the defending Premier League champions up next, the Icelandic international will be tasked with linking up play in the final third to give Everton their biggest chance of causing an upset, by getting the likes of Richarlison, Bernard and Theo Walcott in behind.
