Summer dream could be crucial as Allardyce looks to add fantastic playmaker to Everton project

With the Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern now fully expectant of landing a new marquee marksman in the January window, life is really rather sweet for the Toffees propping up our bar. Indeed, couple that with the recent improvement under Sam Allardyce, it’s all going well at Goodison Park.

While their summer spending did little to yield much in the way of instant results, our resident Evertonians are hoping such lavish outlay continues into the New Year and reports emerging out of Spain have actually proven rather promising. According to AS, Allardyce is in the race for an Argentine international this January.

Atletico Madrid star Nicolas Gaitan is understood to be of interest to a number of Premier League sides over the course of the next few weeks and the former Benfica man would certainly go some way into adding pace into the Everton attack. Reportedly eager to get into the national side ahead of next summer’s World Cup, the 29-year-old is also thought to have attracted interest from the likes of Southampton, West Ham and Crystal Palace.

However, with Everton on an upward trajectory of late, surely a move to Goodison Park is the most appealing.

Landlord’s Verdict:

Gaitan would be a truly wonderful addition to the Everton ranks. Though he’s endured a difficult time of things in the Spanish capital, his pace and trickery in the attacking third would give Big Sam an extra dimension with which to improve his style of play at Goodison Park.
