Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for their side to do some serious transfer business in the summer window.
The Toffees have been going well this season and will be in Europe next year which suggests that they need to sign some players to bolster their squad.
Ronald Koeman and Steve Walsh, then, need to get their homework done in terms of signing new players whilst it also appears that some players will be free to move on to new clubs once the window opens for business.
Certainly, Aiden McGeady is one of those players with The Lancashire Post reporting that the winger is already in talks with Preston ahead of a permanent move.
The former Celtic man has been on loan with the men from Deepdale for 2016/17 and the Championship side certainly seem eager to see him return on a permanent basis.
Indeed, Simon Grayson – the club’s manager – has been quoted by the Post as saying:
“That is the way it worked for Aiden here this season and I’ve said it many times that we want him back.
“We have been speaking with Everton to try and sort something.”
Certainly, then, it appears this deal could be the first that Everton conclude in the window.
