Everton boss Marco Silva should be looking to strengthen his squad now the January transfer window is officially open.

The Blues made a steady start to life under the former Watford boss but their form curtailed over the festive period. After losing the Merseyside derby in the last minute at Anfield, Everton looked void of confidence. Their defeat last week to Leicester meant Everton have lost four of their last five games in the Premier League.

Their form should prompt Silva to dip into the transfer market to bolster his options. The Portuguese enjoyed plenty of success in the summer window alongside director of football Marcel Brands and should be aiming to replicate their excellent deals in January. With Theo Walcott failing to impress, a new right winger could be on his shortlist.

The ideal signing would be Barcelona outcast – Malcom. Valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, the Brazilian winger was one of Europe’s hottest properties in the summer after a hugely impressive Ligue 1 campaign with Bordeaux. Many clubs entered the race for his signature, but it was the Spanish giants who narrowly beat Roma to secure his services. However, his time in Spain hasn’t gone to plan.

Malcom has started just one game in La Liga, failing to displace Lionel Messi in the starting eleven. The 21-year-old’s lack of game time is doing nothing to aid his development and Everton should offer him the chance to play in the Premier League until the end of the season. The Toffees have already loaned Andre Gomes from Barcelona which could help them secure a temporary deal for Malcom. Silva would offer the winger the chance to rediscover his best form whilst adding a world-class attacker to his forward line – the youngster has all the attributes to succeed in the Premier League.

This is a move that would benefit all parties involved.
