Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern will be cautious about the potential signing of an experienced midfielder they have been linked with due to his prior history.
Football.London are claiming the Toffees are confident that they can land Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere as his current deal runs out at the Emirates at the end of the season and talks are ongoing.
It is believed the midfielder has been offered a new deal to extend his stay with the Gunners, however, he has yet to put pen to paper on the deal, leading to Everton feeling an air of confidence about making him theirs.
It is thought the Merseyside outfit are prepared to offer the England international the same wages as he currently earns, with Arsenal looking for him to take a pay-cut, whilst also offering him a signing on fee.
The club believes Wilshere can help them achieve their aims of competing for European football next season and also hope their ambitious plans can help to get him to move from the capital. As you can imagine, after a terrible season at Goodison Park so far, the idea of landing a player so talented has absolutely delighted the Toffees in the Tavern.
Locals in the Tavern will be watching the progress of the current situation with careful eyes as there would be doubts that Wilshere can be a good signing. Punters do not dispute the experience he has, however, his proneness to injury makes it a concerning proposition.
