‘Wasted talent’, ‘Enjoy your 21st at Arsenal’ – Everton fans hijack club’s birthday celebration

The Toffees in the Transfer Tavern are losing patience with Ronald Koeman after another Europa League defeat at the hands of French giants Lyon last night.

Everton have plenty of work to do if they are to qualify for the knockout stages of the competition, after a 1-2 defeat to Lyon at Goodison Park left them rock bottom of Group E at the midway point.

Les Gones edged the game courtesy of a deft-flick from Bertrand Traore at the near post in the 75th minute, just 6 minutes after Everton had scored their equaliser. The Evertonian faithful will be feeling bitterly disappointed with their sides European performance so far, with qualification from the group looking extremely unlikely after 3 games.

Every aspect of Ronald Koeman’s managerial approach is being scrutinised by the fans during this period of darkness for the club, and the lack of opportunities available to young talent Ademola Lookman is the latest point of contention to emerge.

Lookman, who is celebrating is 20th birthday today, burst onto the scene in January by smashing a fourth Everton goal through the legs of Claudio Bravo, within the first minute of his Premier League debut.

However, much to the frustration of the Everton fans propping up the bar, Lookman has struggled to find his feet in the first-team squad and is yet to make a league appearance for the Toffees so far this season.

Here’s what the fans had to say about Lookman’s lack of involvement thus far.
