Everton supporters have been pretty satisfied in recent times after seeing their side embark upon an unbeaten start to the 2018/19 Premier League season.
Marco Silva’s arrival as manager to replace Sam Allardyce during the summer stimulated much excitement and anticipation among Toffees fans, with many believing that the Portuguese was the man to take the club forward once again. And while they have only won one of their opening four league games, drawing the other three has given the Merseysiders a good platform from which to build on in the coming weeks and months.
Thus, there have been many satisfied and upbeat Evertonians up and down the country in recent times, although one man who is unlikely to be too pleased with things at present is attacker Ademola Lookman.
And with first team opportunities likely to be something of a premium for the 20-year-old in the near future, instigating a loan move in January, as he did last season, may well be the only course of action for the £10.8 million-rated Englishman (as per Transfermarkt).
Ultimately, Lookman made a fast start to life at Goodison Park back in 2017 by netting a minute into his debut against Manchester City, and while many would have expected the 20-year-old to push on after that, it simply hasn’t been the case.
In fact, the England Under-20 World Cup winner has added just 24 further senior appearances for the Toffees since then to underline the fact that he is on the peripheries of the action, to the point that he earned a loan move to German outfit RB Leipzig back in January of this year.
And that came about as a result of Lookman’s perseverance given former boss Allardyce reportedly wasn’t keen on shipping him out to the Bundesliga club, but it’s a move which certainly benefited the 20-year-old given he scored five goals and laid on four assists in just 11 appearances for the German side.
Yet he has returned to Everton and still remains out of the first team picture in managing just 33 minutes of Premier League action so far this season, which calls into question exactly what role, if any, the Englishman has under Silva in the near future.
And if things do not change for the England Under-21 international between now and January, instigating a move away from Goodison Park, as he did to his immense benefit last term, may be Lookman’s only course of action in the New Year.
