There’s not been much to moan about for the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern this summer.
Ronald Koeman’s spending spree has seriously excited the Toffees in the Tavern, who are hopeful in their chances of challenging the top four for a potential Champions League spot.
Still, it seems not every Evertonian has been convinced. Indeed, Goodison Park chief Ronald Koeman has recently confirmed Ross Barkley is expected to leave Merseyside this summer, after snubbing a new deal.
Entering the final year of his contract, the England international has been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur of late. While Barkley may not have always convinced, the boyhood blue departing an Everton seemingly about to embark on an upward trajectory is likely to leave a sour taste in the mouths of many.
With that in mind, here’s a look at how Everton fans on Twitter reacted to Koeman’s comments about Barkley.
Genuinely surprised by Barkley news. Makes no sense for Everton, less for him. He's leaving the #EFC party just as we're getting the ale out

When Barkley leaves, what did he contribute that we'll actually miss? #EFC

Time to admit defeat and change my twitter name. Going to miss your song lad and you will never get another one like it #efc #barkley

Sad about Barkley wanting to leave in search of "new challenge". One boyhood Blue returns in Rooney but another set to leave. #EFC

And then there is this. Ross Barkley's no Blue if he doesn't want to pull on the shirt. #EFC #Barkley https://t.co/nOBGAg8Kko

Barkley will end like stones move to A big club but won't even play .all he wants is the money #efc #EvertonFC

I love Barkley but it took him as long to decide on a contract offer as it does for him to try a through ball.#EFC #Next

As a fellow Evertonian, can not fathom how THIS is the time for a new challenge but good luck to Barkley. We'll be better without him. #EFC
