Worth a punt: The untested star that Ronald Koeman could turn into a real force for Everton

Our Everton fans here in the Transfer Tavern really do think that they are on the brink of some serious success under Ronald Koeman with their club going along nicely at the moment.

Indeed, you cannot underestimate the job that the Dutchman has done this season in turning around the players’ form and the fans’ confidence after the end of Roberto Martinez’s tenure.

Now, there is a really positive feel around the club and a strong summer window of signing top players and keeping hold of the best Toffees stars will surely add to that.

That, though, is easier said than done, of course, and many are worried that Romelu Lukaku may move on from the club when the window opens up for business.

For sure, then, another striker could be of use for the club – even if Lukaku stays – and the Blues could do far worse than Chelsea forward Michy Batshuayi.

Another Belgian striker, Batshuayi is seeing his career stall at Chelsea at the moment with Diego Costa leading the line week in, week out for the Stamford Bridge side.

There can be no doubt, though, that there is talent there with the former Marseille man and Ronald Koeman does appear to be the kind of manager to get the best out of young players.

Indeed, if he could do the same with Batshuayi, Everton would have another powerful forward to enthuse over, regardless of Lukaku’s future, and it would potentially mark a moment from which Everton no longer need to be a selling club.
