The Everton fans are beginning to get seriously concerned about the future of their star striker…
Romelu Lukaku has been a revelation at Goodison Park, with the Belgian building himself a fearsome reputation after an up and down spell at Chelsea earlier in his career.
The powerful forward has displayed ruthless efficiency in front of goal, which was exemplified by his incredible performance against Bournemouth last weekend – with the Belgian picking up a 4 goal haul for the first time in his career.
However, whilst his performances on the pitch might not show it, there could be a serious cause for concern for the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern.
According to the Times, Romelu Lukaku’s contract talks at Everton have stalled – with the Belgian still yet to sign a new deal despite numerous claims that one was impending.
This is a difficult situation for the Toffees, with the Belgian clearly establishing himself as the most important member in the Everton first team.
In Lukaku, Everton have a player in which they can build their future around – but without his long-term future being secured, this is a process that they cannot begin.
Interestingly, this could give reason for Chelsea to pounce – with Yahoo Sports earlier reporting that the Blues are readying a summer move for the Belgian.
The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that talks continue to stall – so Antonio Conte can try and steal a march on the Merseyside-based club.
Romelu Lukaku made just 1 Premier League start during his first tenure at Stamford Bridge.
This story isn’t the only one worrying the Everton fans in the Transfer Tavern, though. In an interview with Tutto Mercato Web, the agent of Frank de Boer has revealed that Barcelona are considering a move for Toffees boss Ronald Koeman. Whilst his links to the Catalan side are not clear, this has certainly given the Everton fans cause for concern with regards to their long-term future.
