Everton’s Yerry Mina out for at least a month

It could be a while before Everton see one of their newest additions on the pitch in the blue shirt of theirs.

According to a report by The Daily Mirror, Yerry Mina is expected to remain on the sidelines for at least another month with an unspecified foot injury.

Marco Silva had revealed that the deadline-day signing had arrived with the injury already and has stated that he will not feature for the Toffees until after the international break.

The Colombia international, who signed from Barcelona in a deal worth around £28million, could be out for even longer as he will need to regain his fitness and ensure he is ready to play Premier League football.

“He is recovering from an old injury, not something that happened here, but not something special,” revealed Silva to the Daily Mirror.

“The report I had from our medical staff says it is not serious, but you have to take more days to put him in that level (to train again). It is an old injury, he arrived with yes.”

The Verdict:

Mina’s injury will be a huge setback to Everton for the next month or so.

The Colombian defender is expected to form part of the backline as Silva looks to improve an area that seriously struggled during the season last year.

Mina looks set to miss the games against AFC Bournemouth, Huddersfield Town, West Ham United, Arsenal and Fulham, whilst he could miss even more if his rehabilitation does not go to plan.
